Bellway hands over 51 homes to Kent housing association

Bellway has handed over 51 homes it has built in Maidstone to Kent housing association Golding Homes.

The homes are located on the Rosewood development off Sutton Road in Langley where 170 properties in total are being developed.

The first of these 51 homes allocated for shared ownership or low-cost rent - four semi-detached houses for affordable rent - were completed and handed over in July 2023, with the first block of 12 apartments completed the following month.

These remaining 21 homes were handed over in Spring and Summer this year, with all but one of the 37 homes.

A further 10 affordable homes will be completed and delivered by the end of October, with the final four to be finished by the end of the year.

“These properties are an important element of the development and are helping to create a vibrant new neighbourhood,” said Carolyn Webb, sales manager at Bellway Thames Gateway.

“The affordable housing provision offers a lifeline for local people whose budget does not stretch to buying their own home. These properties, which are a selection of one, two and three-bedroom homes, will allow them to secure a property which means they can stay close to their family and friends.

Golding Homes currently manages over 8,500 properties in Kent. The group’s development manager, Merle Murray, added: “As a local landlord, Maidstone is our key development area where affordable housing is much needed, so this is a significant step towards helping to meet the local housing need.

“We’re looking forward to taking handover of the remaining properties and seeing them become somebody’s new home.”

Overall, over 800 homes are being planned for at the Rosewood development which covers 116 acres.
